Our Services:
MI 4 Health offers four levels of Motivational Interviewing Training:
Level 1: Introduction to Motivational Interviewing. The goal of the MI Introduction is for clients to experience the basics of MI and decide their level of interest in learning more.
Participants learning objectives:
- To become familiar with the fundamental spirit and principles of Motivational Interviewing
- To be acquainted with relevant evidence of efficacy
- To directly experience the MI approach and contrast it with others
Length of Training: 2 – 4 hours
Level 2: Application of Motivational Interviewing. The goal of the MI application training is to learn one or more specific application of Motivational Interviewing.
Participant learning objectives:
- To be acquainted with the fundamental spirit of MI
- To learn practical guidelines for a specific application in the spirit of MI
- To have direct practice in and experience of this particular application
- To decide level of interest in learning more
Length of Training: 1 – 2 days
Level 3: Clinical Training. The goal of Clinical Training is to learn and practice the clinical style of MI.
Participant learning objectives:
- To understand the fundamental spirit and principles of MI
- To develop and strengthen empathic counseling skills (OARS)
- To understand and practice the directive aspects of MI
- To experience and practice an MI style for meeting resistance
- To learn the fundamental client language cues (change talk and resistance), that allow continued feedback and learning in practice
Length of Training: 2 - 3 days
Level 4: Advanced Clinical Training. The goal of advanced clinical training is to move from basic competence to more advanced clinical skillfulness.
Participant learning objectives:
To deepen clinical skills through:
- Intensive observed practice in advanced MI skills
- Individual feedback regarding MI practice
- Updated knowledge of MI (recent research and developments)
Length of Training: 2 - 6 sessions with a blend of group coding and individual tape review, coding and feedback
Additional Services:
Consultation in the development of MI Telephone Counseling Programs targeted to specific applications (e.g., disease specific prevention and/or management, diet, physical activity, etc.)
