Kathleen Garrett
holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver.  Ms. Garrett received her advanced clinical MI and “train the trainer” education from Bill Miller, Steven Rollnick, Teresa Moyers, and Gary Rose in a series of MINT sponsored workshops offered between 2002 and 2004 In Albuquerque, New Mexico and Portland, Maine.   She has also completed 32 hours of traiing in and is an experienced Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) coder and individual coach.  Ms. Garrett has been a  member of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers since 2004.  http://motivationalinterviewing.org/profile/kathiegarrett

Ms. Garrett serves as Director of the Telephone Counseling Research Program AMC Cancer Prevention and Control Program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and holds a Research Faculty appointment in the School of Public Health at the University of Colorado at Denver.   Her clinical and research interests include Motivational Interviewing, telephone counseling, and cognitive behavioral interventions to promote healthy lifestyles, cancer prevention, chronic illness management, cancer survivorship, and post traumatic growth.   Ms. Garrett has served as a collaborating
investigator on seven NIH and foundation funded research projects evaluating the feasibility and/or efficacy of psychosocial and behavioral interventions in cancer prevention and control.  In each of these studies, Ms. Garrett provided leadership in intervention design, implementation, supervision, and quality assurance. 

  As an independent MI trainer/program development specialist, Ms. Garrett develops and facilitates clinical and community based MI training workshops. She also provides professional consultation in MI based counseling program development, implementation and quality assurance
